The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has asked motorists to exercise “extreme caution” when driving at night or early morning because of the foggy conditions. Follow lane discipline, avoid overtaking, maintain distance, reduce speed, use wipers to remove moisture on front and rear windshield, use beam headlights, and stay awake and be careful, said the ROP. The foggy conditions, witnessed since the beginning of the week in several parts of Oman, are expected to clear in the coming days. Especially experienced in the coastal area, the fog is caused by the northeasterly winds blowing from Oman Sea with a high content of humidity, said the Met Office. Such conditions are causing low visibility, resulting in traffic jams mostly in the early mornings.
